Russian monks living and working in Sofrino monasteries, crafted this Russian Orthodox Icon of "The Savior of Smolensk". It is showing Christ Pantocrator standing at the center, the gospels in one hand, his other hand posturing as to give a blessing, with two angels hovering above holding the instruments of the Crucifixion, and with the monk saints Sergius and Varlaam at his feet. The inscriptions are: at the top is the IC XC abbreviation for "Jesus Christ " and below "Where is the Almighty".This image features vibrant colors in the traditional Eastern Orthodox style and gold foil accents for a beautiful presentation of an icon revered for centuries in Russia and the Eastern Orthodox Church. This decoupaged Icon is made in high-quality polygraphic with double layers of metallographic printing. It is pasted to the wood plate base. All icons from the Sofrino Monastery factory are blessed by the Russian Orthodox Church. Icon measures about 6 1/4" x 5" x 3/4".
